Kansas City, Mo. - Central Methodist junior libero Krystal Brauner was recognized as the Heart Defender of the Week Monday afternoon by the conference office.
It marks the first conference honor this season for the Jefferson City, Mo. native.
This past weekend, Brauner helped No. 14 Central to a 2-1 record with wins over Tabor and No. 25 Ottawa.
She averaged 5.5 digs per set and had a weekly high of 22 digs in the loss against No. 12 nationally ranked Eastern Oregon. She also dished out nine assists on the week in addition to four service aces.
Brauner and the Eagles will next travel north to Bellevue, Neb. to compete in the GoSarpy.com Labor Day Classic, hosted by Bellevue University beginning Friday, Sept. 2.
