Bellevue, Neb. - The No. 15 Central Methodist Volleyball program finished the Bellevue University Labor Day Classic with a perfect 4-0 record Saturday afternoon in Bellevue, Neb.
Central improves to 6-1 overall through its first seven games of 2022.
The Eagles picked right up where they left off with a three-set sweep over Embry-Riddle (Ariz.) by scores of 25-9, 25-19, and 25-17 during the morning session.
Central's offense finished the match with a .260 hitting percentage, while holding Embry-Riddle to -.032 hitting. Sydney Healy led the way with eight kills on 14 swings. Callie Henson matched Healy with eight kills in addition to two solo blocks and a pair of block assists.
Marina Alonso and Gabi Owczarek finished the match 17 and 10 assists respectively. Owczarek also picked up eight digs as did Annabelle Maassen.
CMU concluded the weekend with another sweep, this time over Olivet Nazarene, 25-21, 25-21, 25-19.
Maassen nearly collected a double-doublea aginst the Tigers with nine kills and 10 digs. The junior from Jefferson City also picked up two service aces and a pair of blocks. Henson tallied nine kills on 19 swings along with three digs and two block assists.
Joana Milho finished the match with seven kills and led the defense with four block assists.
Overall, Central's offense put up a .306 hitting percentage against the Tigers. Alonso led dished out a match-high 23 assists paired with five digs, followed by Owczarek with 13 assists and seven digs.
Central returns home to host Evangel University in the Heart Opener Tuesday, Sept. 6 at 7:00 p.m. inside Puckett Field House. The Eagles split last season's matchups with the Valor, winning in Puckett Field House, 3-1.
