Kansas City, Mo. - The Central Methodist Volleyball program had a pair of Eagles earn Heart of America Player of the Week honors, which were announced by the conference office Monday.
Junior Joana Milho was named the Heart Attacker of the Week, while senior libero Rita Campos was tabbed as the Heart Defender of the Week.
Milho and Campos led Central to a 4-0 record this past week, including an upset win over No. 18 Columbia College and victories over (RV) Bethel and (RV) Missouri Baptist.
Milho, a junior from Lisboa, Portugal, averaged 4.36 kills/set in Central's four contests. She produced the best game of her career in Central's three-set sweep of Columbia College Friday, tallying 19 kills on 38 swings for a .395 hitting percentage.
Milho followed that up with 19 kills and 14 digs in CMU's five-set win over Bethel in their final game of the weekend.
Altogether, she collected 61 kills and 29 total digs.
Campos provided a steady presence on defense, averaging 5.71 digs/set including 26 against No. 18 Columbia College. Overall, the Porto, Portugal native accumulated 80 total digs.
Cental is currently 7-0 and will head to Ottawa, Kansas to take on both (RV) Ottawa University and No. 6 Oklahoma Wesleyan on Thursday, Sept. 12.
