St. Louis, Mo. - The Central Methodist Volleyball program dropped a three-set match on the road against No. 10 Missouri Baptist University by scores of 26-24, 25-17, and 25-21 Wednesday night in St. Louis, Mo.
The Eagles drop to 9-4 and 1-2 in the Heart, while the Spartans improve to 13-2 and 5-0 in conference action.
Central came out strong in the first set, hitting .314. The Eagles and Spartans went point for point, with the largest lead just being three points in the opening frame. CMU had a 22-20 lead in the first, before Missouri Baptist ultimately came back and won the opener, 26-24.
Missouri Baptist pulled away in sets two and three, hitting .385 and .412 to secure the sweep.
The Eagles struggled defensively overall, as the Spartans hit .358 for the match. Sydney Bollenbach led the way for the Eagles with 13 digs, followed by six from Joana Milho.
Martina Gonzato recorded 10 kills, followed by Milho with eight and Luciana Araujo with six. Leticia Barea finished with the highest hitting percentage of .455 with five kills and no errors.
Mariah Bostic-Jones finished the night with 19 assists, while Ramsey Spinks dished out 10.
Central next competes against Graceland University Friday, Sept. 19 at 7:00 p.m. in Lamoni, Iowa.
