Fayette, Mo. – The (RV) Central Methodist Volleyball program squared off against No. 10 Missouri Baptist University Thursday night inside a Western themed Puckett Field House.
The Eagles fell in an exciting five-set match to the Spartans by scores of 25-19, 19-25, 21-25, 25-23, and 7-15.
Central now stands at 11-5 and 3-3 in the Heart of America, while the Spartans improve to 15-3 and 7-1 in conference action.
After coming out strong in the first set, the Eagles fell in sets two and three. The Eagles bounced back in set four dominating offensively hitting .429 as a team compared to the Spartans' .278.
The Spartans ultimately won the match taking set five over CMU, 15-7.
Senior Leticia Barea led Central's offense with 13 kills on 28 swings for a .429 hitting percentage. Junior Luciana Araujo followed with 11 kills. Araujo added eight digs and two service aces as well.
Both Joana Milho and Martina Gonzato tallied nine kills. The Eagles hit .195 overall in the match.
Brazilian native, Vitoria Martins, led defensively with 20 digs followed by Milho with 14.
Freshman Ramsey Spinks dished out 26 assists, followed by sophomore Mariah Bostic-Jones with 22. Both setters tallied a service ace.
The Eagles continue conference play against William Woods University on Wednesday night in Fulton, Mo.
