Forest City, Iowa - The (RV) Central Methodist women's wrestling team landed two grapplers in the top three of their respective weight classes, as the Eagles competed in the Waldorf Open Saturday morning in Forest City, Iowa.
Freshman 109-pound grappler Alexis Miller was the highest finisher for Central. The Wagoner, Okla. native won three straight matches to reach the championship bout, before falling to Mia Palumbo of Iowa Wesleyan in the finals. All three of Miller's wins came by either Fall or Technical Fall.
Lillian Gough posted her second-straight top three finish, as she placed third in the 136-pound bracket. Although she lost in the semifinal match after earning a bye and back-to-back wins, Gough defeated her final two opponents to come away with a top-three finish and four wins on the day.
In addition, three other Central wrestlers placed, as Abigail Jastal finished fourth at 101 pounds, Giovanna Loza fifth at 123 and Sabrina King sixth at 130.
CMU will make the short trip to Marshall to compete in the Missouri Valley Open Saturday, Nov. 20 at 9:00 a.m.
