Fayette, Mo. - Central Methodist Head Women's Wrestling Coach Tim Prescott announced the hiring of Andrea Montoya as the program's new assistant coach. 

"I am excited to rejoin CMU, this time as its assistant women's wrestling coach," stated Montoya. "As the first woman to graduate from the university's wrestling program, the opportunity to grow women's wrestling, as a whole, holds a special significance to me."

Montoya was a part of the first-ever women's wrestling recruing class during the 2019-20 school year. As a student-athlete she was a two-time NAIA National qualifier and an NAIA Scholar All-American. She also recevied the women's wrestling Pioneer Award.

She graduated from Central Methodist in the spring of 2022 with a degree in Business, and was the first woman to graduate from the women's wrestling program in its history. 

She remained at CMU post graduation and worked in both the Provost's office and the College of Graduate and Extended Studies. 

"I look forward to representing the team again and continuing to build a successful wrestling program," added Montoya. "It's an honor to help develop the athletic and academic talent CMU's new athletes and its familiar faces have on and off the mat."

Montoya will begin her duties immediately.
