Eagles Edge Spartans in First Dual of 2026

Eagles Edge Spartans in First Dual of 2026

Fayette, Mo. - The No. 16 Central Methodist women's wrestling team earned a hard-fought 25–23 dual victory over Heart newcomer (RV) Missouri Baptist Friday night inside Puckett Field House.

CMU opened the dual with a burst of momentum at 103 pounds, as Mya Hairston needed just 35 seconds to pin Lillian Hackworth and put the Eagles on the board early. Missouri Baptist answered at 110 pounds when De'yton Young recorded a first-period pin.

At 117 pounds, No. 10 Yusneiry Agrazal delivered a dominant performance for CMU, rolling to a 10-0 technical fall over Andrea Karagiannis. The Eagles continued to build their advantage with back-to-back forfeits at both 124 and 131 pounds.

Missouri Baptist fought back in the middle weights, picking up falls at 138 and 145 pounds as No. 10 Zoe Fries and No. 14 Maggie Ortmann secured key points to keep the dual within reach.

CMU responded emphatically at 160 pounds behind No. 2 Allyssa Johnson, who pinned Talia Reed in just 32 seconds to reclaim momentum for the Eagles. Missouri Baptist once again closed the gap with wins at 180 and 207 pounds.

Despite the late surge by Missouri Baptist, CMU's bonus points proved decisive, allowing the Eagles to hold on for the 25–23 victory.

Central will remain at home to host William Woods University Wednesday, Jan. 14 at 6:00 p.m. inside Puckett Field House on Senior Night.

The Eagles will honor their 2026 senior class prior to the dual.
