Eagles Finish Fourth at Heart Championships; Produce Two Individual Runner-Up Finishes

Oskaloosa, Iowa – Competing against one of the nation's top NAIA fields, the Central Methodist women's wrestling program turned in a strong performance Saturday at the Heart of America Conference Championships, finishing fourth in the team standings with 107 points.

William Penn claimed the team title with 215 points, followed closely by Grand View University (214) and Missouri Valley College (161.5).

The Eagles placed four wrestlers fourth or better in their respective weight classes, highlighted by a pair of runner-up finishes and a third-place effort at 103 pounds.

Central Methodist saw two wrestlers reach the podium at 103, as Zoey Mzeru battled back through the consolation bracket to place third, scoring 15.5 team points. After dropping her semifinal match, Mzeru responded with a dominant 14-4 technical fall in the third-place bout.

Mya Hairston added a fourth-place finish and 11.5 team points. Hairston advanced to the semifinals before earning a fall in the consolation semifinals to secure her spot in the medal round.

Berlin Kiddoo led the Eagles with a runner-up finish at 124 pounds, tallying 19 team points. Kiddoo opened the tournament with back-to-back falls, including a 45-second pin in the opening round. She added a decision in the quarterfinals and another fall in the semifinals to reach the championship match before finishing second overall.

At 160, Allyssa Johnson powered her way to a second-place finish, contributing 18 team points. Johnson recorded technical falls in both the quarterfinal and semifinal rounds, showcasing her offensive control throughout the day. She fell in a tightly contested 9-8 decision in the championship bout to claim runner-up honors.

Christina Page rounded out the top-four finishers with a fourth-place showing at 207 pounds, scoring 12 team points. Page earned a key technical fall in the consolation semifinals to advance to the third-place match and secure her spot on the podium.

Mzeru (103), Yusneiry Agrazal (117), Kiddoo (124), Emily Neumann (138), and Johnson (160) are all automatic qualifiers to this year's NAIA National Championships in Park City, Kansas, set to take place March 13-14. The full field of quailifiers will be announced this week.
