Atchison, Kan. - The Central Methodist Men's Soccer team saw its eight-game unbeaten streak snapped by Benedictine College Wednesday night in Atchison, Kansas.
Central fell to the Ravens by a final score of 4-2. The Eagles now stand at 8-2-4 and 5-1-3 in the Heart of America. Benedictine improves to 5-6-3 and 2-5-2 in conference action.
The Eagles struck first with a goal from Robin Vandewalle in the 11th minute of play with the assist from Pelayo Suarez.
Benedictine responded with goals in the 27th and 36th minute to take a 2-1 lead at the halftime break. In the first half, the Ravens tallied seven shots compared to four for the Eagles.
BC extended its lead with a goal in the 59th minute and an own goal by CMU in the 80th minute.
Altin Shabi scored in the final seconds for the Eagles, making the final score 4-2 in favor of Benedictine.
Niccolo Cabras made seven saves in goal for Central, playing all 90 minutes between the posts.
The Ravens outshot CMU, 17-13, while Central earned six corner kicks compared to three for BC.
Central returns to Davis Field for a three-game homestand beginning with Mount Mercy Saturday, Oct. 18 7:30 p.m. in Fayette.
