Lamoni, Iowa - The Central Methodist indoor track & field programs had another strong showing, this time at the 1st meet of the Graceland Indoor Winter Series, hosted by Graceland University Saturday.
On the women's side, Abbie Hale and Mason Fitzgerald finished in third and fourth place in the 200m dash, recording times of 27.61 and 27.83 respectively. Sophomore Madeline Weiseman posted a third-place finish in the 400m dash, while senior distance runner Lisa Sauter claimed a Top-2 spot in the 5,000m run in a time of 20:07.30.
Reigning Heart Women's Track Athlete of the Week, Kailey Johnson took home first place in the 55m hurdles in 9.04 seconds. The 4x400 team of Fitzgerald, Hale, Johnson, and Weiseman won the event in 4:14.32, which was almost 26 seconds fast than the next closest finisher.
In the field events, Jada Gaines and Katelyn Weber finished in first and third in the long jump with final marks of 5.22 and 5.00 meters respectively.
For the men, Tyler Reinkemeyer earned third place in the 1000m run in a time of 2:52.45, while freshman Brennan Moots missed out on the top spot by one-tenth of as second in 55m hurdles in a time of 8.24.
The team of Mohammed Nyaoga, Curtis Johns, Hayden Hackman, and Nehemiah Colyer won the 4x400m relay in 3:27.63. Senior Jacob Frtiz earned second place in the men's high jump with a jump of 1.90 meters and teammates Robert Jerrick and Parker Yager finished 1-2 in the pole vault, each with a mark of 4.20 meters.
Taylor Bottomley continues to shine in his senior campaign, as the Harrisburg, Mo. native won the shot put with a throw of 15.71 meters. He also claimed the top spot in the weight throw with a final mark of 18.64 meters, nearly five meters longer than the second-place finisher and a new school record.
Hackman finished third in the weight throw with a new personal best of 13.54 meters.
Both squads will return back to Lamoni for the second weekend of the Graceland Series on Friday, Jan. 22.
