Maryville, Mo. – The Central Methodist Track and Field program delivered a strong showing at the 2026 Bearcat Invite, which was hosted on the campus of Northwest Missouri State University in Maryville, Missouri over the weekend.
The two-day meet was highlighted by multiple top-five finishes across sprints, hurdles, middle distance, and field events on both the men's and women's sides. Additionally, the program saw three school records fall over the weekend.
On the women's side, senior Zakiya Porter led the Eagles on the track, finishing fourth in the 60 meters with a time of 7.57, hitting the NAIA 'B' standard. Porter also narrowly missed the podium in the 200 meters, placing sixth overall.
Sophomore Maria Sahagun secured a fourth-place finish in the 200 meters (25.06) and added another fourth-place result in the long jump, posting a mark of 5.43 meters.
In the hurdles, senior Shannon O'Neil earned a fourth-place finish in the 60-meter hurdles finals, clocking a time of 8.80 seconds and achieving a NAIA 'B' standard.
The Eagles picked up a podium finish in the field as Natalie Calcaterra claimed second place in the high jump, clearing a height of 1.58 meters
In the triple jump, Anaya Little secured a fifth-place finish with a leap of 11.13 meters.
The CMU men, were led by a championship performance from Corlando Chambers, who captured first place in the 600 yards with a time of 1:10.78, hitting the NAIA 'A' standard for national championship qualification and setting a new school record.
Sophomore Tyrone Summerall followed with a strong fifth-place finish in the 400 meters, crossing the line in 48.80 for a new school record. Isaac Lawson continued to shine for the Eagles, breaking his own school record in the 200 meter dash in a time of 21.67.
In the hurdles, senior Wilton George posted a fifth-place finish in the 60-meter hurdles finals, running 8.16 to meet the NAIA 'B' standard.
The Eagles also performed well in the jumps, as Ryan Graves finished fifth in the high jump after clearing 1.88 meters. Junior Brian Shine added a fifth-place finish in the long jump with a mark of 6.38 meters.
Sophomore Azaan Stoughtenborough placed sixth overall in the triple jump and highlighted the meet with a top-five caliber leap of 14.00 meters.
In the throws, Wyatt Smith recorded two strong top-five efforts, placing fifth in the shot put (14.46m) and fifth again in the weight throw with a mark of 14.38 meters.
The Eagles will turn their attention to the postseason, beginning with the Heart of America Indoor Conference Championships, beginning Friday, Feb. 20 in Maryville, Mo.
