Kansas City, Mo. - For the second-straight week, Central Methodist University senior track & field athlete Taylor Bottomley has been the Heart Indoor Men's Field Athlete of the Week, as announced by the conference office Monday afternoon.
Bottomley, who earned Heart honors last week, won the shot put with a throw of 15.71 meters at the Graceland Indoor Series Saturday morning in Lamoni, Iowa. He also claimed the top spot in the weight throw with a final mark of 18.64 meters, nearly five meters longer than the second-place finisher and a new school record.
At the Friends University Invite on Jan. 9-10, the Harrisburg, Mo. native broke the school record in the shot put with a throw of 16.48 meters, good enough for a first-place finish. He also placed second in the weight throw with a final toss of 16.70 meters.
He currently ranks No. 3 nationally in the weight throw and No. 4 in the shot put.
Central will continue their indoor season in the second edition of the Graceland Indoor Winter Series Friday, Jan. 22 in Lamoni, Iowa.
