Kansas City, Mo. - A stellar showing at the Heart Indoor Championships from senior field athlete Taylor Bottomley earned him this week's NAIA National Men's Indoor Field Athlete of the Week, as announced by the national office Wednesday afternoon.
The Harrisburg, Mo. native was named the Men's Field Athlete of the Meet at this past weekend's Heart Championships, after totaling 20 points through two events. He secured 1st place victories in both the weight throw and shot put.
Bottomley set a new school record and PR in the weight throw at 19.03 meters, ranking No. 3 in the country and earning a trip to the national meet. He also claimed victory in the shot put with a final toss of 16.81 meters, well over a full meter of national qualification standard.
Overall Bottomley has been named Heart Indoor Men's Field Athlete of the Week four times this winter, and will next look towards the NAIA National Indoor Championships March 4-6 in Yankton, South Dakota.
