Kansas City, Mo. - The Central Methodist men's and women's indoor track & field programs have qualified seven of their athletes for the NAIA National Indoor Championships, announced this week.
The women's side will be represented by sophomore racewalker Sarah King. The men will take six athletes including the 4x400m relay team. Making up the field on the men's side are Taylor Bottomley, Nehemiah Colyer, Jacob Fritz, Hayden Hackman, Curtis Johns, and Mohammed Nyaoga. The 4x400m relay team includes Johns, Nyaoga, Hackman, Fritz, and Colyer.
This past weekend at the Heart Indoor Championships, the women placed second out of 12 teams, and men earned a third place finish. Five conference champions were crowned from Central Methodist, of which two will represent the Eagles at nationals, including Bottomley in both the shot put and weight throw, and Hackman, who claimed the conference title in the heptathlon.
Indiana Tech qualified the highest number of athletes with 23 on the men's side, while Concordia (Neb.) and IU Kokomo (Ind.) each qualified 23 athletes for the national meet.
The NAIA Indoor Track & Field Championship hosted by Dakota State University will take place at the Ruth Donahoe First Dakota Fieldhouse in Yankton, S.D.
