KANSAS CITY, Mo. - After a successful weekend of competition at the 2021 Heart of America Athletic Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships, the conference's major award winners have been announced.
Head Coach, Kenny Anderson, was tabbed as the Heart Women's Outdoor Coach of the Year. Anderson, currently serving in his first year at the helm of the program, led the Eagles to a runner-up finish at the event after collecting 115 points. He coached CMU's standout freshman, Kailey Johnson, to an individual championship in the 100m hurdles and the "highest point scorer" title.
Senior Hayden Hackman was named the Men's Outdoor Field Athlete of the Meet after a successful weekend showing with the Eagles. Hackman won the Decathlon with an NAIA 'A' standard mark of 5,936 points. Hackman also served as the second leg of the 4x400m Relay Team, which finished second with a time of 3:18.30, and collected a silver medal in the pole vault (4.60m).
The Eagles will now look to the NAIA Outdoor National Championships set to take place May 26-28 in Gulf Shores, Ala.
