Gulf Shores, Ala. - The Central Methodist track & field program concluded its record breaking season at the NAIA Outdoor Track & Field National Championships this week in Gulf Shores, Ala.
At the end of the week, CMU collected seven NAIA All-Americans, the most ever at the Outdoor Championships in program history.
Senior thrower Taylor Bottomley earned all-america honors in two different events. The Harrisburg, Mo. native started the championships with a seventh place finish in the hammer throw, a new personal best of 58.56 meters. He also finished eighth on the podium in the shot put, hitting a new PR of 17.16 meters. He concludes his career as a three time NAIA Outdoor All-American.
Fellow senior Hayden Hackman had a stellar showing in the men's decathlon, setting a new school record with 6890 points and earning all-america honors. Hackman won the shot put, 400m dash, the discuss and the 1500m run en-route to a third place overall finish on the podium.
The men's 4x400m relay team of Mohammed Nyaoga, Jacob Fritz, Nehemiah Colyer, and Curtis Johns broke the school record in prelims Thursday with a time of 3:14.87. The squad ran a final time of 3:16.90 in the finals, finishing eighth. They are the first relay team 4x400m relay team in school history to earn outdoor all-america honors in the last 20 seasons.
Senior Radovan Kemboi ran the 10,000m run in a time of 32:50.29 and Nehemiah Colyer finished the trials of the 400m hurdles in 54.14 seconds.
On the women's side, Lisa Sauter competed in the marathon Friday morning, running the event in 3:50:25. She finished the 26 mile race in 13th place. Lillian Patterson competed in the 5K racewalk, finishing 13th in a time of 32:25.15 and freshman Kailey Johnson ran in her first outdoor national championships, finishing the 110m hurdles in a time of 14.89 seconds.
