Warrensburg, Mo. - The Central Methodist Indoor Track & Field programs competed at the UCM Mule Relays, hosted by Central Missouri over the weekend in Warrensburg, Mo.
On the men's side, freshman Ethan Smith had a solid showing in the heptathlon, as the Kansas City, Mo. native finished second with a final score of 4330.
Senior Taylor Bottomley dominated the men's weight throw with a NAIA leading mark of 21.04 meters, good enough to break his own school record and winning the event by more than two meters. Josh Henderson placed fifth with a throw of 15.84 meters, a new personal best for the freshman.
The duo also finished 2-3 in the men's shot put with throws of 16.36 and 14.38 meters respectively. In the track events, sophomore Brennan Moots placed third in the 60-meter hurdles with a new PR of 8.30 seconds. Senior Curtis Johns claimed victory in the men's 200-meter dash in a time of 22.65 seconds.
Alexander Ayala placed third in the 600-yard run with a time of 1:18.09
For the CMU women, freshman Renee Finke won the women's high jump clearing 1.60 meters, while teammate Megan Aubuchon placed fourth with a leap 1.55. Kaitlyn Weber and Kailey Johnson placed second and third in the long jump with identical marks of 5.36 meters. Weber had fewer misses which placed her in front of Johnson.
Johnson broke her own school in the 60 meter dash. She qualified for the finals with a time of 7.76 seconds, followed by a winning time of 7.66 seconds in the finals, this time also hit the 'A' standard to qualify for the national meet. Jada Gaines placed third in the event with a personal best of 7.85 seconds.
In the 600 yard run, junior Keiara-Ashley Cunningham placed third out of 12 athletes in a time of 1:33.65, while fellow junior Madeline Wieseman ran a new personal best in the 800 meter run in 2:28.41
Central is next set to compete at the Bearcat Open hosted by Northwest Missouri State Saturday, Feb. 5 in Maryville, Mo.
