Fayette, Mo. - The Central Methodist track and field program began the 2022 outdoor season this past weekend, hosting the CMU Open Saturday at Davis Field. 

The Eagles boasted several top finishes including three national qualifying marks during the event. 

Megan Aubuchon qualified for nationals in the 100m hurdles with a final time 0f 14.80, good enough to finish first out of 11 competitors. On the men's side, Taylor Bottomley hit qualifying standards in both the hammer throw and discus. 

Aubuchon also posted a second place finish in the high jump at 1.55 meters, followed by Sadie Heisner with a second place finish. Heisner and Carter Hawkins finished 1-2 in the pole vault with marks of 3.35 and 3.10 meters respectively. Kailey Johnson, Kaitlyn Weber, and Sarah Johnson swept the podium in the long jump, as did Weber, Heisner, and Sarah Johnson in the triple jump. 

Madeline Wieseman finished second in the 400m dash in 1:02.13 and Jada Gaines placed third in the 100m dash with a time of 12.64 seconds. On the men's side of the 100m dash, Adam Trachsel finished second with a flat time of 11.00. 

Ethan Smith won the men's pole vault, reaching a height of over 13 feet. Josh Henderson and Colder Evans finished 2-3 behind Bottomley in the discus with marks of 44.10 and 41.87 meters respectively. Bottomly won the event with a final toss of 48.47 meters. He also won the hammer with a throw of 60.10 meters.

Henderson placed third in the shot put at 13.01 meters and Alexander Ayala placed second in the 200m dash in 22.99 seconds. 

Freshman Evan Workman finished third in the javelin with a throw of 41 meters. Senior distance runner Shawn Kiptoo placed third in the men's 1500m run in a time of 4:09.40. Brennan Moots won the 110 meter hurdles with a final time of 14.86 and Ayton Bar-Shimon placed second in the men's 400m dash

Central will next compete in the Margaret Simmons Invite March 25-26 in Murray, Ky.
