Gulf Shores, Ala. - Behind two All-American performances, the Central Methodist Track and Field program concluded its season at the NAIA Outdoor National Championships, held this week in Gulf Shores, Ala.
The Eagles were represented by 11 athletes in 14 different events, including six on the women's side and five on the men's.
Senior thrower Taylor Bottomley placed fourth in the men's Hammer Throw with a toss of 60.51 meters, good enough to earn NAIA All-American honors. The senior from Harrisburg, Mo. is now a four-time NAIA Outdoor All-American.
In addition, Bottomley competed in the shot put and the discus, placing 18th in the discus (46.12 meters) and 20th in the shot (15.49 meters).
Fellow senior Alexander Ayala competed in the 400m hurdles, finishing with a time of 54.85 seconds to earn a 17th place standing in the event.
Jonathan Brown represented Central in the men's high jump, where the native of London, England finished tied for 13th with a mark of 2.00 meters flat.
Sophomore Brennan Moots placed 25th in the men's 110 meter hurdles in a time of 15.13 seconds. Adam Trachsel rounded out the competitors on the men's side, as he ran a time of 10.97 seconds in the 100-meter dash.
On the women's side, Keiara-Ashley Cunningham earned All-American honors in the 400-meter hurdles. She placed first in her heat Wednesday with a time of 1:02.46, before finishing fifth in the finals with a new school record of 1:01.21.
Sophomore Kailey Johnson also competed in the event, posting a time of 1:05.11 in the trials.
In addition, the duo of Megan Aubuchon and Johnson ran the 100-meter hurdles, finishing with times of 14.73 and 15.20 seconds respectively. Dayana Montenegro posted a 17th place finish in the 400-meter dash in 58.07 seconds.
Kaitlyn Weber competed in the long jump with a 22nd place finish at 5.25 meters, while Sadie Heisner gained competed in the pole vault.
