Maryville, Mo. - The Central Methodist Track & Field program competed in their final indoor meet before postseason competition at the Bearcat Open this weekend in Maryville, Mo.
Sophomore Gizel Clayton highlighted the weeked for the Eagles, as she set a new school record in the 60m hurdles in 8.53 seconds to finish first. Fellow teammate Tre'breh Scott also ran in the 60m hurdles, posting a fifth place finish in 8.65 seconds.
Scott, along with Dayana Montenegro, Kjirsten Guilford, and Sakoya Johnson ran the women's 4x400m relay in 3:52.93, good enough for a fifth-place finish.
Montenegro placed second in the 600 yard run in time of 1:24.44. She also hit the 'A' standard to qualify for the NAIA Indoor National Championships.
Junior Karli Wolfe earned a podium finish in the weight throw with a toss of 16.75m. Delaney Miller competed in the high jump, finishing second with a jump of 1.62 meters.
Carter Hawkins and Amara Reichert placed 4-5 in the pole vault.
On the men's side, Josh Henderson and Colder Evans finished third and fifth in the weight throw with marks of 16.50m and 16.05m respectively.
The 4x400m relay team of Mohammed Nyaoga, Adrian Watson, Jack Schiffhauer, and Doriye Jackson hit the national qualifying 'B' standard in a time of 3:19.13.
Central will now turn its attention to the Heart Indoor Conference Championships beginning Friday, Feb. 17 in Maryville, Mo.
