Cedar Rapids, Iowa - The Central Methodist Men's Track & Field program earned a third-place podium finish at the 2023 Heart of America Outdoor Conference Championships this past weekend in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
The Eagles compiled 107 team points to finish third, while Benedictine just edged the Eagles with 111 points to place second. Grand View claimed the team title with 164 total points.
Mohammed Nyaoga placed second in the 400m in a time of 48.46 seconds, while Adrian Watson finished fourth in 49.40 seconds. Watson also ran the 400 hurdles, earning a third place finish in 55.39. Exavier Coburn placed fourth in the 5000m Racewalk in 27:44.58.
Doriye Jackson earned a second place standing in the 800m in 1:54.76. Meshack Kiptanui placed third in the 3000m steeplechase in 9:55.21 and the 4x400m relay team of Nyaoga, Jack Schiffhauer, Watson, and Jackson won the conference championship in 3:16.19, more than two seconds faster than second place.
In the field events, Jaxon Hiser and Parker Yager went 2-3 in the pole vault with identical marks of 4.25 meters. Brayton Stephenson was the Runner-Up in the shot put with a throw of 15.27 meters, as was Joshua Henderson in the discus at 47.08 meters.
Colder Evans earned a fourth place standing in the hammer throw at 52.31 meters, while Ethan Smith was the conference runner-up in the decathlon, totaling 5946 points.
The top three finishers in each event are considered 2023 Heart Outdoor Track & Field All-Conference athletes.
1st Place = First Team All-Conference
2nd Place = Second Team All-Conference
3rd Place = Third Team All-Conference
Fourth, fifth and sixth place finishers in each event are considered 2023 Heart Outdoor Track & Field Honorable Mention All-Conference athletes.
The Eagles have qualified six men for the NAIA Outdoor National Championships, set to take place May 24-26 in Marion, Ind.
