New Orleans, La. - In the opening weekend of indoor season, Central Methodist senior hurdler Cortney Watkins was named the NAIA Men's Indoor National Track Athlete of the Week by USTFCCCA on Monday.
Watkins broke a 14-year-old school record in the 60m hurdles at the Washburn Alumni Invite this past Saturday.
He clocked a time of 7.79 seconds in the prelims and improved with a time of 7.76 seconds in the final, which resulted in a first-place finish.
Watkins' time is currently No. 1 in the NAIA, and he has already booked his ticket to the NAIA Indoor Track & Field National Championships.
