Overland Park, Kan. - Central Methodist senior Wilton George was named the Heart of America Men's Indoor Track Athlete of the Week by the conference office Monday.
George delivered an outstanding performance in the sprints and hurdles at the Larry Wieczorek Invitational in Iowa City, Iowa this past weekend.
He placed sixth overall in the 60-meter hurdles, clocking a personal-best time of 8.05 seconds. The mark met the NAIA 'B' Standard and currently ranks No. 4 nationally in the NAIA.
In addition to his hurdle success, George advanced through the preliminary round of the 60-meter dash, posting a time of 6.91 seconds to cap off an impressive showing across multiple events.
George and the Eagles will continue indoor action at the Principia Relays beginning Friday, Jan. 30 in Elsah, Illinois.
