New Orleans, La. - CMU Men's Track & Field continues to make its presence known on the national stage, as the Eagles are ranked No. 7 in the latest NAIA Men's Outdoor Track & Field National TFRI.
The Eagles posted a total score of 214.20 points, fueled by 162.76 individual points and 51.43 relay points. Central sits firmly among the NAIA's elite, joining a top-10 group led by University of the Cumberlands and St. Thomas University.
Central's rise is powered by both elite individual performances and depth across multiple event groups, highlighted by 21 national qualifying marks.
Freshman standout Tyrone Summerall has emerged as one of the top hurdlers in the country, currently holding the No. 1 national ranking in the 400-meter hurdles (51.57). Summerall also played a key role on the Eagles' No. 3-ranked 4x400-meter relay, teaming with Logan Bass, Isaac Lawson, and Corlando Chambers.
Senior hurdler Wilton George adds to the Eagles' dominance in the hurdles, ranking No. 3 nationally in the 110-meter hurdles (14.22). Bass also contributes significant points in the same discipline, sitting No. 5 nationally in the 400-meter hurdles.
In the middle-distance events, Chambers continues to impress with a No. 3 national ranking in the 800 meters (1:49.86), while Oliver Cabana adds depth with a No. 6 ranking in the same event.
The Eagles' sprint corps has also delivered, with the 4x100-meter relay team ranked No. 6 nationally, and Lawson posting top-30 marks in the 100m, 200m, and 400m.
In the field events and multis, junior Waisale Inoke leads the way with a No. 12 national ranking in the decathlon, while also contributing in the long jump and high jump. Additional scoring performances from Azaan Stoughtenborough (triple jump) and Brian Shine (triple jump) further showcase the team's versatility.
Regionally, Central Methodist stands out as one of the top programs in the South Central grouping, alongside fellow conference member Park University, which is ranked No. 8 nationally.
The Eagles will next compete in the Missouri State Invitational Friday, April 17 in Springfield, Missouri.
