Graham Karwath was named Head Men’s Wrestling Coach at Central Methodist in May 2023. On May 1, 2026, he was promoted to Director of Wrestling.
He will continue to serve as head coach of the men’s program while overseeing the day-to-day operations of both the men’s and women’s programs.
Since arriving at Central, Karwath has elevated the men’s program to new levels of success. In his first three seasons, he has coached 18 national qualifiers, 11 Heart of America Athletic Conference All-Conference selections, three conference champions, and seven NAIA All-Americans, including two national runner-up finishes in 2025.
Under his leadership, the Eagles have steadily climbed the ranks in the Heart of America Athletic Conference—widely regarded as one of the nation’s most competitive leagues in men’s wrestling. The program earned its first-ever podium finish at the conference championships in 2026, placing third after finishing fourth in 2025 and sixth in 2024.
Central has also gained national recognition during Karwath’s tenure, finishing 20th or better at the NAIA National Championships in each of the past three seasons. The Eagles’ top performance came in 2025 with a 10th-place national finish.
Karwath joined Central Methodist after serving two seasons as the Head Men’s and Women’s Wrestling Coach at Avila University in Kansas City. There, he built both programs from the ground up and guided the men’s team to a runner-up finish at the KCAC Championships. During his time at Avila, he coached three conference champions and five national qualifiers.
Prior to Avila, Karwath spent one season as head coach at MacMurray College in Jacksonville, Illinois, where he led the Highlanders to a historic milestone by coaching three NCWCC All-Americans—the first in program history.
Karwath also previously coached at Lindenwood University-Belleville, where he served as an assistant before becoming head coach of both the men’s and women’s programs. During his tenure, he coached a men’s NAIA National Runner-Up and developed the program’s first All-American.
