OVERLAND PARK, Kan. - No. 14-ranked Central Methodist, the two-time defending champion in the Heart of America Athletic Conference (HAAC) Softball Championship Series and top-seed for the event this season, looks to make it three in a row Saturday when the Eagles face the winner of No. 2 MidAmerica Nazarene (Kan.)/No. 5 Benedictine (Kan.) in the championship game at 1 p.m. CT at the Blue Valley Recreation Complex field number 18.
The Eagles must be defeated twice Saturday by either the Pioneers or Ravens to avoid claiming their third-straight Championship Series title and fourth overall.
Live video, audio, stats, chat and Twitter updates will be available for the championship round.
With one win Saturday, Central Methodist would tie the single-season school record for wins set by the 2011 and 2012 squads. Senior pitcher Aubrey Utley enters Saturday needing three strikeouts to break Chelsea Fuemmeler's (2008-10) all-time mark in program history of 550.
Central Methodist, which has won 11 straight in the Championship Series, advanced to Saturday's title game after defeating four-seed Baker (Kan.), 3-1, in the second round and the Pioneers, 5-2, in the semifinals.
The Eagles are 11-0 all-time at Blue Valley Recreation Complex in Championship Series games.
