Central Tops Grand View in Day Two of Conference Tournament

Central Tops Grand View in Day Two of Conference Tournament

Cedar Rapids, Iowa – The No. 2 Central Methodist softball team continued play in the Heart Conference Tournament on Friday, taking on No. 3 Grand View in Cedar Rapids.

The Eagles struck first in the opening inning, as Joely Crider crossed the plate to give Central an early 1-0 advantage. After four scoreless innings, CMU added an insurance run in the sixth. Maddie Holly delivered a double to left-center field, driving in Kaysie Jolley for the final run of the game.

Central's defense handled the rest, holding Grand View scoreless throughout the contest. In the circle, Haley Cotter was dominant, throwing a complete-game shutout while allowing just three hits across seven innings.

With the win, Central Methodist advances in the winner's bracket and will face No. 1 Missouri Baptist on Saturday afternoon. The Eagles split their regular season matchup with the Spartans on March 28. First pitch is set for 12:00 p.m. in Cedar Rapids.
