Geringer Named POY, Reardon Coach of the Year

Geringer Named POY, Reardon Coach of the Year
Full List

Fayette, Mo. The Heart of America Athletic Conference announced their 2016 All-Conference Softball Teams on Friday afternoon, with regular season champion Central Methodist University garnering numerous honors. First baseman Lauren Geringer (O'Fallon, Mo.) was named the Player of the Year, head coach Pat Reardon won Coach of the Year, and eight players were named all-conference.

"It starts with recruiting," said CMU head coach Pat Reardon. "It's not like most are returning names, we had two freshman on the list, along with our three seniors, who contributed a lot this season. They all had good numbers and worked really hard for this award."

In regards to winning coach of the year honors, Reardon said, "It does have a lot to do with my coaching staff. I don't look at it as a coach of the year award, that's a staff award."

Among the players honored Friday, pitcher Erin Enke (Martinez, Calif.), infielder Hannah Blackmon (Beaumont, Tex.), first baseman Lauren Geringer, and infielder Jessie Wilmes (Flint Hill, Mo.) were all named to the 1st Team.

Pitcher Haley Kinnison (Lee's Summit, Mo.) and outfielders Skyler Hime (Raymore, Mo.), Alyssa Lilly (Wentzville, Mo.), and Addyson Reardon (Boonville, Mo.), were all named to the 2nd Team.

The Heart also announced their 2016 Gold Glove Winners on Thursday, with pitcher Erin Enke, first baseman Lauren Geringer, and centerfielder Skyler Hime, all winning the honors for their respective position.

Central Methodist begins play in the Auburn Montgomery Bracket this coming Monday, May 16th at 3pm against third seed Rio Grande. First pitch is scheduled for 3pm and can be heard live on cmueagles.com.
