Gulf Shores, Alabama – The 20th ranked Central Methodist Eagles softball team are off to a hot start down in the Gulf Shores Invitational.
They won both of their opening games on Friday afternoon, day one of the invitational. In the first game of the day, the Eagles defeated Spring Hill College 3-0. They faced St. Thomas University (FL) in their second game winning by a close score of 9-7.
Day two of the invitational, the Eagles picked up where they left off, going 3-0 for the day. The Eagles started off by defeating Blue Mountain College, 4-2. Following with a big win against #3 Southeastern University 3-1.
Central Methodist went 4-0 in their pool, earning them a spot in the Gold Division of the tournament. With their first game in the Gold Division, they faced 9th ranked Morningside Saturday night. The Eagles went on to defeat #9 Morningside by the score of 8-3.
"Great day for our team," said CMU head softball coach Pat Reardon. "Everyone played a part on thee success." With the win against Morningside, it gave head coach Pat Reardon his 700th career win.
The Eagles' softball team will be back in action today at 1:00pm, when they face Columbia College to continue their play in the Gulf Shores Invitational.
