Ten Eagles Honored as All-Conference

Ten Eagles Honored as All-Conference

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Central Methodist softball team led the Heart with 10 players earning a spot on the All-Conference teams, announced by the conference office on Wednesday.

The Eagles had three players earn first-team All-Conference honors: Kelli Gorman (SO/St. Charles, Mo.), Addy Reardon (SR/Boonville, Mo.), and Keighlan Cronin (FR/St. Charles, Mo.).

Gorman, who currently leads the Eagles with a remarkable .433 batting average and 57 RBIs, improved on a second-team distinction last season. With 10 home runs this season, she is currently 3rd in program history for career home runs with 20.

Reardon has now been named All-Conference all four years she has been at CMU after being named second-team her first three seasons. Battling through injuries for most of this season, she has hit .352 with two home runs and 23 RBIs. While patrolling center field for the first month of the season, she put up a spotless 1.000 fielding percentage.

In her first season as an Eagle, Cronin leads the Eagles with a 3.29 ERA and 112 strikeouts over 117 innings pitched. She currently holds an impressive 12-4 record while notching three shutouts and 12 complete games.

Five Eagles earned second-team All-Conference honors: Ashley Wills (SR/Cameron, Mo.), Hannah Criswell (SO/Kennett, Mo.), Morgan Willis (JR/Carrollton, Mo.), Lexi Jones (SO/Wentzville, Mo.), and Taylor Patton (SR/Columbia, Mo.).

Wills also earned the distinction a season ago. Leading the Eagles with 139 innings pitched, she has compiled a 16-9 record while striking out 104 batters. A highlight of her season was throwing two no-hitters over the same weekend in April.

It's the second straight season Criswell has been named All-Conference after being placed on the first team last season. A strong presence in the middle of the lineup, Criswell has hit seven home runs and nine doubles to go along with 36 RBIs. She has also thrown out six runners stealing from behind the plate.

Willis is also a two-time All-Conference player after earning honorable mention last season. The right fielder has batted .381 with six home runs and 28 RBIs. She currently leads the team with 44 runs scored.

In her second season at CMU, Jones earned All-Conference for the first time. The first baseman has hit .315 with four home runs and 33 RBIs. Among players with at least 70 chances, she leads the team with a .988 fielding percentage, only recording three errors on the year.

Patton had a breakout season in her final campaign as an Eagle, earning All-Conference honors for the first time in her career. She currently leads the team with 11 long balls while also batting .382 and picking up 36 RBIs. Her .804 slugging percentage currently ranks second in program history for a single season.

Two more Eagles earned honorable mention recognition: Sydnie Harmon (SR/Raymore, Mo.) and Mae Mitchell (JR/Frederick, Colo.).

Harmon picked up her second All-Conference honor after being named second-team two seasons ago. The lefty lead-off hitter currently leads the Eagles with 28 walks while also hitting .339. On the base paths, she has accumulated 17 stolen bases on 18 attempts to lead the Eagles.

Mitchell also had a breakout season in her junior campaign, earning All-Conference distinction for the first time. The shortstop has batted .348 with a team-high 11 doubles in addition to five home runs and 24 RBIs.

Central is slated as the No. 3 seed in the Heart Conference Tournament that begins today in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
