Kansas City, Mo. - The CMU Softball duo of Kelli Gorman and Keighlan Cronin swept the Heart Weekly awards Monday, as Gorman was selected as the Player of the Week while Cronin was tabbed as the Pitcher of the Week.
It marks the second time the pair have swept the weekly awards as they were recognized on April 20.
Cronin, a junior from St. Charles, Mo., notched four wins in the circle for the No. 5-ranked Eagles. She struck out a total of 24 batters and surrendered just three earned runs through 21.2 innings of work en route to her fourth Heart Pitcher of the Week honor.
Cronin finishes the regular season with an overall record of 25-2, including 24 complete games and a school-record 226 strikeouts through 159.2 total innings.
Gorman was tabbed as the Player of the Week for the second time after leading the Eagles to a 6-0 mark with a .550 batting average. She totaled 11 hits, 14 RBIs, seven runs, four home runs, and three doubles through 20 at-bats.
Gorman currently leads the nation in home runs (21), total bases (153), and total RBI (78).
Central has earned the No. 2 seed in the Heart of America Athletic Conference tournament hosted by Mount Mercy University May 6-9 at Busse Field in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. The Eagles will face No. 7 seeded Culver-Stockton College Thursday, May 6 at 2:30 p.m.
