Louisville, Ky. - The National Fastpitch Coaches Association announced 144 student-athletes from 64 programs have received 2021 NFCA NAIA All-Region accolades.
The awards honor softball student-athletes from the Association's six regions with first and second-team selections. NFCA member head coaches from each respective region vote on the teams, and all student-athletes now become eligible for the 2021 NFCA NAIA All-America squads.
Four members of the Central Methodist softball program landed on the NAIA Region V first and second teams.
Junior pitcher Keighlan Cronin and senior outfielder Kelli Gorman earned first-team honors, while Madison Love and Micaela Harcrow landed on the second team.
Cronin was a force on the mound in 2021 as the Heart Pitcher of the Year finished the season with a 27-3 overall record, a 1.31 earned run average and 250 strikeouts. She set program records in single-season wins (27), strikeouts (250), and shutouts (14) as Central's ace. Cronin was also ranked No. 5 nationally in wins, opposing batting average (0.162), and hits allowed/nine innings (4.01). She was named the Heart Pitcher of the Week four times.
Gorman appeared and started in 56 games in left field for CMU, leading the team with a .411 batting average, and 22 home runs. She tied the single-season program record for hits (78) and drove in a team-leading 82 runs along with 14 doubles. For her efforts this season, Gorman was tabbed as the Heart Player of the Year and a first-team all-conference performer. She also earned Heart Player of the Week honors on two different occasions.
Love earned NAIA Region V Second-Team honors after compiling a 22-6 overall record and tossing 177 total innings. The Holts Summit, Mo. native finished the year with a 1.86 earned run average, 152 strikeouts, including 11 shutouts and 25 complete games. Love was tabbed as the Heart Pitcher of the Week on March 3, and earned Heart First Team All-Conference honors.
Harcrow rounded out the honors for Central, joining Love on the NAIA Region V Second Team. She was named the Heart Freshman of the Year after appearing and starting in 52 games. Harcrow tallied a .408 batting average on 58 hits, including 10 doubles and three home runs. She drove in 31 runs, scored 33 runs herself, and boasted a 0.965 fielding percentage.
