Fayette, Mo. - The No. 11 Central Methodist softball team completed the doubleheader sweep of Missouri Valley College Sunday afternoon at Cox Softball Complex.
With the two victories, the Eagles improve to 13-4 and 5-1 in the Heart, while the Vikings fall to 11-7 and 0-6 in conference play.
In the first game of the day, Central found themselves tied at 2-2 entering the bottom of fourth inning. The Eagles then exploded for eight runs in the fourth, going on to earn a 10-2 victory in five innings.
Senior outfielder Kelli Gorman led the offense, batting a perfect three-for-three with a double. Madison White and Katelyn Kiser each picked up two hits including a two RBI double for Kiser and a two run home run for White.
Senior Madison Love earned her second win of the year, throwing a complete game and giving up two earned runs on six hits with four strikeouts.
The Eagles then took game two in six innings by a score of 8-0. Central scored four runs in the first and four in the sixth to secure the shut out victory. Highlighting the game was freshman Mykala Johnico who tossed her second no-hitter of the 2022 season. The native of Topeka, Kan. struck out 10 batters through six innings of work to push her record to a perfect 4-0.
White led the bats in game two, batting a perfect three-for-three with two doubles, two RBI and two runs scored. Daly Garland, Gorman, and Micaela Harcrow all picked up doubles as well.
Central returns to action against Benedictine College Wednesday, March 23 for a doubleheader beginning at 1:00 p.m. in Atchison, Kan.
