Cedar Rapids, Iowa - The Central Methodist Softball program opened Heart play with a doubleheader sweep of Clarke University by scores of 11-1 and 15-5 Saturday afternoon in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
Due to weather conditions in Dubuque, the games were moved to the campus of Mount Mercy University.
The Eagles improve to 15-5 overall, while the Pride fall to 6-11.
In game one, Lauren Hill led the Eagle bats with two doubles in three at bats while driving in three runners. Madison White, Katelyn Kiser, and Joely Crider all picked up two RBI, while White, Madison Roberts, and Daly Garland drew two walks apiece.
Overall, CMU scored 11 runs on seven hits and seven walks in the six inning contest.
Jordyn Ball earned her sixth win of the year, tossing a complete game and giving up just one earned run on four hits and three walks. She finished the day with eight strikeouts.
Central's offense remained hot in game two, as seven different Eagles picked up at least one hit. Roberts led CMU with three hits in four at-bats, six RBI, a walk, and three runs scored. Two of her three hits were bases clearing doubles.
Kelena Oots matched Roberts with three hits in four trips to the plate, driving in two runners and drawing a walk.
White picked up a pair of doubles, while Kaysie Jolley hit a triple.
In the circle, Brooke Tolle improved to 3-2 this year, pitching four compete innings and giving up four earned runs on four hits and three walks. She finished the afternoon with five strikeouts.
Haile Farris finished the game for Central, tossing the final inning and retiring the Pride batters in order.
Central is scheduled to host MidAmerica Nazarene University for a doubleheader beginning at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, April 1 at Cox Softball Complex.
