Eagles Sweep Graceland in Sunday Doubleheader

Fayette, Mo. - The Central Methodist softball team completed the doubleheader sweep over Graceland University by scores of 4-2 and 8-2 Sunday afternoon.

The Eagles improve their overall record to 19-5 and 6-0 in the Heart, while the Yellowjackets fall to 14-10 and 4-4 in conference action.

Both Elizabeth Palumbo and Kaysie Jolley tallied two hits while Lauren Hill recorded a double. In addition, both Jolley and Kelena Oots picked up a stolen base.

Madison Roberts, Palumbo, and Carly Robbins all drove in one runner.

Haley Cotter earned her third win of the year inside the circle, pitching a complete game and giving up just two earned runs on five hits with eight strikeouts.

She also got out of a bases loaded jam in the seventh inning to preserve the victory.

In game two, the Eagles capitalized on five Graceland errors to earn the six-run victory, including four runs in the fifth and three in the sixth.

Joely Crider batted three-for-three with two doubles while driving in three runners. Oots, Palumbo, and Jolley all collected two hits, while Oots  picked up a double.

Brooke Tolle earned the win, tossing five complete innings and gave up two earned runs on four hits with three walks. She struck out four batters in her fourth victory of 2023.

The Eagles head back out on the road for a doubleheader make up against Mount Mercy Tuesday, April 4 beginning at 3:00 p.m. in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
