Columbus, Ga. - The No. 8 Central Methodist Softball program fell in the second game of its World Series run against Top seeded Oregon Tech, 4-1, Friday afternoon in Columbus, Ga.
The Owls opened the scoring in the bottom of the second inning, plating three runs on one hit while capitilizing on two Eagle errors.
CMU responded with a run in the top of the second, as Joely Crider hit a sacrifice fly to left to score Katelyn Kiser from third. Oregon Tech would stretch its lead back out to three, scoring on an error by CMU in the next half inning.
Central was unable to respond in the later innings, as the Owls would go on to earn the 4-1 victory.
Despite being dealt her first loss of the season in the circle, freshman Haley Cotter tossed a complete game while giving up just four hits. All four runs scored by the Owls were unearned, as Central committed three errors.
Kelena Oots, Madison White, Madison Roberts, Kaysie Jolley, and Kiser all picked up a hit for the Eagles, with Kiser's hit being a double to left center in the third inning.
The Eagles will look to keep their season alive against No. 5 seeded Georgia Gwinnett in an elimination game Saturday, May 27 at 9:00 a.m. (CST).
