Kansas City, Mo. - For the first time in her career, Central Methodist sophomore pitcher Veronica Dearth was named the Heart of America Softball Pitcher of the Week by the conference office.
Dearth, a native of West Alexandria, Ohio, threw two complete-game shutouts against two of the top three teams in the Heart last weekend.
Those games included a 1-0 win over Park and a 7-0 road win at Baker.
Dearth finished the week with 14 total strikeouts and gave up just four hits in 14 innings inside the circle.
She finishes the regular season with a 10-1 record, a 1.84 earned run average, and 53 total strikeouts.
