Columbus, Ga. - For the third consecutive year, the Central Methodist Softball program will compete at the NAIA World Series beginning beginning Thursday, May 22 in Columbus, Georgia.
Central secured its spot in Columbus after sweeping through the Fayette Bracket last week at Cox Softball Complex. The Eagles defeated No. 3 British Columbia, No. 1 LSU Alexandria, and No. 5 UT Southern in order in the Opening Round.
CMU (41-9) enters the World Series as the No. 5 seed, and will take on No. 4 seeded Oklahoma City (50-9) in their first game. The Eagles and Stars met previously this year in a February matchup in Shawnee, Oklahoma as part of the NAIA SB Invitational.
OCU defeated the Eagles in a high-scoring affair by a score of 21-13.
The Stars punched their ticket to the World Series after battling their way back in the loser's side of the Oklahoma City Bracket last week, defeating Missouri Baptist to secure their spot in Georgia.
Gametime is set for 7:00 p.m. (ET) this Thursday at the South Commons Complex in Columbus. The winner will take on either No. 1 Cumberlands (Ky.), No. 8 Grand View, or No. 9 Midland.
