Jenks, Okla. - The No. 18 Central Methodist Women's Soccer program fell to No. 16 Oklahoma Wesleyan in a Top 25 matchup Monday afternoon at the Scheels Sports Complex.
Central fell to OKWU by a final score of 4-0.
Oklahoma Wesleyan scored their first goal in the 15th minute of play. Despite a strong defensive presence from Central that resulted in several saves in the sequence, OKWU eventually found the back of the net for the score.
CMU held OKWU off the scoreboard for the remainder of the half, and entered the break trailing 1-0.
The Eagles of Oklahoma Wesleyan quickly padded their lead with back-to-back goals in the 48th and 50th minute. OKWU put the finishing touches on the match with a goal in the 76th minute.
Oklahoma Wesleyan finished the afternoon with 12 shots, including seven shots on goal. CMU recorded nine shots but only put three on frame.
Mariana Barreto led Central's offense with four shots, followed by Sara Garcia with three.
Amber Bennett secured two saves in goal through the first 85 minutes of action. Brooke Assur played the final five minutes between the posts.
CMU remains on the road and will next travel to Kansas Wesleyan Saturday, August 30 for a 1:00 p.m. matchup in Salina, Kan.
