Fayette, Mo. - The No. 21 Central Methodist Women's Soccer program used three first and three second half goals to cruise past Heart newcomer William Woods in the conference opener Saturday night at Davis Field.
Central improves to 3-1-1 and 1-0 in the Heart, while the Owls fall to 1-3 and 0-1 in conference action.
The Eagles scored their first three goals in the opening 22 minutes of play. Sara Garcia found the back of the net first in the fourth minute, followed by consecutive goals from Mariana Barreto in the 15th and 22nd minutes.
Luisa Schaupp netted the Eagles' fourth goal of the match in the 48th minute, followed by goals from Luana Jaroline and Laura Andres in the 63rd and 74th minute respectively.
Woods eventually got on the board in the closing minutes of the match, but Central would go on to earn a 6-1 win.
As a team, CMU outshot William Woods 20-7 and earned 10 corner kicks compared to zero for the Owls.
Nine different Eagles recorded at least one shot, with Barreto leading the way with seven shots. Five of her seven shots were also on goal, and she finished the night with a brace and a pair of assists.
Suzu Narusawa, Garcia, Pascalle Rodriguez and Schaupp each picked up an assist.
The Eagles hit the road for a rematch of last year's Heart Tournament Championship game against No. 13 MidAmerica Nazarene University Wednesday, Sept. 10 at 1:00 p.m. in Olathe, Kan.
