Fayette, Mo. - The No. 14 Central Methodist Women's Soccer program cruised past Mount Mercy in a rescheduled contest Sunday evening at Davis Field.
Central defeated the Mustangs by a final score of 9-0. CMU improves its overall record to 12-1-2 and 10-0-1 in the Heart of America, while MMU drops to 7-6-2 and 5-5-1 in conference action.
Junior forward Mariana Barreto led the offensive charge once again, tallying her fourth hat trick of the year with goals in the 10th, 20th, and 63rd minutes of play. She has now registered 22 goals in just 15 matches.
Jenna Brouwer got the scoring started with her second goal of the year in the fourth minute. Brouwer also tallied three assists on the night.
Irene Ruiz scored less than 30 seconds later, with the assist from both Brouwer and Luisa Schaupp.
Schaupp also finished with a brace, scoring goals in the 15th and 49th minutes. Luana Jarolin joined in on the scoring in the 68th minute, before an own goal from Mount Mercy gave CMU their ninth and final goal of the evening.
As a team, Central fired off 24 total shots, with 15 coming on frame. The Mustangs finished with two shots.
The Eagles remain atop the Heart of America Regular season standings with 31 total points.
CMU will remain at home to host Park University Saturday, Oct. 25 at 5:00 p.m. at Davis Field for Senior Day.
