Fayette, Mo. - The No. 14 Central Methodist Women's Soccer program secured another thrilling win with a 3-2 victory against Park University Saturday night at Davis Field.
The win capped senior day festivities for the program, which recognized Luisa Schaupp, Rieke Protze, Moka Ishii, Maja Henriksen, Suzu Narusawa, and Leslie Serrato. The six seniors were honored prior to the match.
Central improves to 13-1-2 and 11-0-1 in conference action. PU drops to 7-4-3 and 5-3-3 in the Heart.
Narusawa netted her first goal of the year in the 12th minute, with the assist coming from Schaupp.
The Pirates found the equalizer in the 37th minute to tie the match at 1-1 entering the halftime break.
Mariana Barreto broke the deadlock in the 57th minute with her 23rd goal of the year, which was assisted by Lauren Berger.
Park responded almost instantly with a goal just 90 seconds later.
It appeared the match would end in a 2-2 tie in the latter stages of the match.
The Eagles had one final opportunity to score the game winner in the final moments. Central earned a corner kick with less than a minute remaining, which was taken by captain Jenna Brouwer.
Brouwer sent the ball into the box, which found the head of Nerea Munoz who sent the ball past the keeper into the back of the net for the winning goal. It mark's Munoz's fourth goal of the year and her second game winner of 2025.
A physical battle saw Central fire off 18 total shots, with five shots coming on goal. CMU's defense held the Pirates to just five shots and three shots on goal.
Barreto finished the night with eight shots and five shots on goal, while Munoz tallied five shots and four on goal.
Amber Bennett earned her 13th win of the year in between the posts after playing a full 90 minutes.
The Eagles will close out the regular season with a home match against Baker University Wednesday, Oct. 29 at 5:00 p.m. at Davis Field.
Central can lock up the Heart of America Regular Season Championship with a win over the Wildcats.
