Fayette, Mo. - The Central Methodist Women's Soccer program fell in the Heart Tournament Championship game against No. 2 Missouri Valley College Wednesday night at Davis Field.
Central now stands at 16-2-2 while the Vikings improve to 16-0-4.
Missouri Valley finished the first half with four shots taken compared to just one for the Eagles. The Vikings third shot attempt resulted in the opening goal of the match in the 39th minute off the foot of Heliamar Mora, her first goal of the year.
MVC held a 1-0 lead at the halftime break.
Central picked up the offensive pace in the second half, producing 10 total shots and earning four corner kicks.
However, the Vikings tallied their second score of the night in the 74th minute after a defensive miscue from the Eagles resulted in an own goal.
Central was unable to answer in the final 16 minutes, as MVC went on to earn the 2-0 win.
Nerea Munoz led the CMU offense with three shots taken, while Maja Henriksen, Luana Jarolin, and Mariana Barreto each recorded two.
The Eagles outshot Missouri Valley 11-10 on the night. Only two of Central's shots were on target, compared to six on goal for MVC.
CMU has already earned an automatic bid into this year's NAIA National Tournament with winning the Heart Regular Season Championship.
