Kansas City, Mo. - After an impressive showing at the 2022 Friends Invitational Saturday, the Central Methodist track duo of Kailey Johnson and Kaitlyn Weber were tabbed as the Heart Athletes of the Week by the conference office Monday afternoon.
Johnson was named the Heart Track Athlete of the Week, while Weber earned Heart Field Athlete of the Week honors. This marks the first honor for the pair this season.
Johnson earned two first-place finishes at the Invitational, beginning with the 60-meter dash in a time 7.88 seconds. In addition, she helped lead the 4x400m relay team to a first-place victory with a time of 4:13.19.
Weber, a junior from Wentzville, Mo., won the women's long jump with a mark of 5.14 meters to place first out of 11 competitors. She also took home fourth in the triple jump with a mark of 10.61 meters.
Central will next compete in the Dutch Athletics Classic Saturday, Jan. 15 in Pella, Iowa.
