New Orleans, La. - The Central Methodist Women's Track & Field program remains at No. 5 in the third edition of the NAIA Women's Indoor Track & Field Ratings Index.
In the national ratings, Indiana Tech remains at No. 1 followed by William Carey (Miss.), Concordia (Neb.), and Huntington (Ind.). CMU rounds out the top five programs nationally.
The Eagles turned in three of their ten top-10 performances at the Bearcat Invite this past weekend, headlined by Gizel Clayton's No. 5 ranking in the 60m hurdles (8.53). Tre'breh Scott is right behind Clayton at No. 6 in the same event.
Other standout performances for CMU include; the 4×400m relay team of Scott, Kjirsten Guilford, Dayana Montenegro, and Sakoya Johnson, who are No. 2 in the event in 3:52.52.
Montenegro and Guilford both land in the Top 10 of the 600m run (3rd and 6th respectively) and Yanira Paninka is fifth in the 3000m racewalk (16:17.94).
In the field events, freshman Baylee Beard ranks ninth in the shot put (13.75m/45-1½) and sixth in the weight throw (17.04m/55-11). Newcomer Delaney Miller is eighth in the high jump (1.65m/5-5), and Karli Wolfe is ninth in the weight throw (16.75m/54-11½).
So far the Eagles have qualified 12 athletes for the NAIA Indoor Track & Field National Championships in Brookings, S.D.
Central will turn its attention to the Heart Indoor Conference Championships beginning Friday, Feb. 17 in Maryville, Mo.
