New Orleans, La. - The Central Methodist Women's Outdoor Track & Field program picked up right where it left off during the indoor season, as the ladies are rated No. 5 in the second edition of the NAIA Outdoor Track & Field National Ratings Index.
Central moved up 12 spots from No. 17 with 205.02 points. Brittish Columbia out of the Cascade Conference leads the way with 520.58 points, followed by William Carey (334.15), Southeastern (279.92) and Life University (226.37).
Along with the fifth-ranked 100-meter performance that Gizel Clayton posted at the CMU Invite this past weekend (11.89), she also ranks second in the 100mH at 13.83 seconds.
Baylee Beard had a solid showing at CMU's home meet, competing in both the shot put (13.40m/43-11¾) and hammer throw (51.20m/168-0). Each of those throws are ranked eighth and fifth on the national leaderboard respectively.
In addition, Tre'breh Scott has showed out for the Eagles during the spring season, owning shares of a No. 6 rating in the 100m hurdles (14.26), and a No. 4 showing in the 4x400m relay (3:49.98).
Dayana Montenegro (400, 57.12, eighth) and Baileigh Morris (5000m racewalk, 29:40.11, tenth) round out top-10 showings for the Eagles' in the women's individual ratings.
Altogether, the CMU Women have qualified nine different athletes in eight different events for the NAIA Outdoor National Championships.
Central will next travel to Jefferson City, Mo. to compete in the Lincoln Open Saturday, April 8.
