Kansas City, Mo. - After a stellar showing at two different meets this past weekend, Central Methodist senior Dayana Montenegro was named the Heart of America Women's Indoor Track Athlete of the Week by the conference office Monday.
Montenegro won the 400m dash at the Concordia Polar Dog Invite in a time of 56.98, hitting the NAIA 'B' Standard of Qualification for the NAIA National Championships.
She also won the 600-yard run at the Coach Alsup Open in Maryville, Missouri with a national qualifying time of 1:24.83. It is the second fastest time in the NAIA so far this season.
Montenegro and the Eagles will next compete in the Central Missouri Invite Friday, Jan. 24 in Warrensburg, Mo.
