Overland Park, Kan. - Central Methodist track and field athletes Allena Rowland and Annemarie Koerner were recognized by the Heart of America Athletic Conference, earning Women's Indoor Track Athlete of the Week and Women's Indoor Field Athlete of the Week honors following standout performances at the Larry Wieczorek Invitational.
Rowland captured Women's Indoor Track Athlete of the Week honors after an impressive showing in the 600 meters. The senior posted a personal-best time of 1:34.03, meeting the NAIA 'B' Standard and ranking No. 4 nationally. She also played a pivotal role in the women's 4x400-meter relay, teaming with Diane Ondobo, Aroa Carballo, and Bailey Arceneaux to place third overall with a time of 3:48.17. The mark met the 'A' Standard and currently stands as the fastest time in the NAIA this season.
Koerner earned Women's Indoor Field Athlete of the Week accolades following a strong performance in the long jump. The junior recorded a personal-best leap of 5.62 meters, finishing fourth overall. Her jump met the NAIA 'B' Standard, ranks No. 17 nationally, and secured her qualification for the NAIA National Championships.
The Eagles will continue indoor action at the Principia Relays beginning Friday, Jan. 30 in Elsah, Illinois.
