Overland Park, Kan. - After a stellar opening weekend, the Central Methodist Track & Field program saw two of its own earn Heart of America weekly honors by the conference office Monday.
Senior Zyaire Robinson was named the Track Athlete of the Week, while Joana Vakasobuduru was tabbed the Field Athlete of the Week.
Robinson competed in three events at the CMU Open this past weekend. She picked up a win in the 100m dash in a time of 11.93 seconds.
Robinson was also apart of the 4x100m relay team that finished first, set a new school record and hit the A standard for national championship qualification, clocking a time of 46.18 seconds. Additionally, the native of Kansas City placed sixth in the 200m dash.
Vakasobuduru won the javelin, breaking her own record with a throw of 42.21 meters. She met the NAIA B standard for championship qualification. She also placed second in the shot put with a toss of 12.44 meters.
Central continues outdoor season at the WashU Invite beginning Friday, March 27 in St. Louis, Mo.
